"She's my friend but she's hurting me. I feel horrible being with her, but she's still my friend. Is there anything wrong with me?! "
Have you experienced these signs and symptoms?
Take this mini quiz and see if this is a true or untrue friendship!
You don’t feel respected, and your friend doesn’t seem to hear your concerns. For example, they disregard your feelings. When they know an action or word from them can hurt your feelings, they do not care. They will not be bothered if you break this friendship, in fact you are not important to them.
You can’t speak your mind honestly, or can’t find space in the conversation to speak at all. All they talk about is themselves.
Your friend does not seem genuine in his/her relationship with you.
You observe that your friend wants to be with you not because of who you are. Instead they want somethingfrom you.
When you both get in trouble, she leaves you. Leaving you all alone to stand for yourself. Many a times when we face problems, to tell our true friends from the untrue ones we just need to see if they will stand by us in our troubled times or leave without helping.
If you experience all of the above, it seems like this is not a friendship worth carrying on.
If you experience only some of the above, you could carry on the relationship and improve it. ( You may want to follow the tips that are provided in the previous posts eg. Tips on how to maintain a good friendship)
